this is me!

yes this is me and i am loving it. i have always want to try this and once i purchase adobe element 8, this was the first thing that i tried. and i love it. i am working on doing some more and my next challenge for 2010 is to do flowers.
i am taking two class at a retreat in 2010 that will be teaching how to do portrait quilts. what ever they teach me i am willing and ready. i want to learn all the little short cut or anythings to improve what i am doing now. i was afraid to do my hair, since i have dreadlock and i could not figure out how to do the hair. i still have not gotten the quilting of the face the way i want it. and i am still trying to figure out how to stop the invisible thread from breaking. i still have alot to learn about portrait quilts. so right now it is try and error. so let me get back to trying to do another one since it is snowing in maryland and i am in the house and have time to sew.

i like this look for portraits too...and this is cool...for your locks you could consider doing something 3-D, scuptural almost...

Hey Sistah,
It is WONDERFUL!!!!!
This is something that I have been wanting to do also, but I have so many irons in the fire I'm afraid to take on something else right now because I'm afraid I'll set the place on fire.
I'm waiting to see more of these.

i am glad everyone likes what i have done so far. still afraid to tackle hair. the face was done by looking at a dvd from quilting arts workshop call making faces, by maria elkins. you need a photoshop progam to be able to do the face. i use adobe photoshop element 8. it is a program that let you download your pictures to their program

I'm impressed with your portrait quilts, you could be teaching a class yourself. I'd like to try one, maybe 2010 will be my year to do it. :)

I too am doing portraits...but yours seem to be a combination of photo on fabric and fabric. Are the eyes for instance from the photo direct or have you somehow been able to capture the whole look with fabric alone?

I did my grandson's dreadlocks on a quilt you can see on my blog:

on my Dec 4th post called Simply Dreadful. Very 3-D using repurposed dryer sheetes. Would love to discuss your process with you.
